Introducing Brooke B
Here’s the tea:
Since I was a kid, I was always really disobedient and had a rough time in school. I would get bored easily and that eventually lead me down a not-so-great path.
When I turned 21, I started drinking moderately because I was always the life of the party. Over a span of 10 years 1-2 drinks on weekends had turned into 6-8 drinks on a daily routine. While under the influence of alcohol, I’ve been drugged several times, put in physically and mentally abusive situations, and have gone in and out of depressed states. Despite all of this happening, I still wasn’t motivated to slow down.
Over the last few years, I’ve learned to channel my energy into hiking, running, traveling, and now swimming. Last summer I started open water swimming because I’ve always loved the water. So much so, I started swimming at the La Jolla Cove almost every morning before work. I made swimming a daily habit, so it became a no brainer that I needed to make a decision to quit drinking for good in order to accomplish all of my goals.
It’s been a challenge but not as hard as I thought. I couldn’t be any more proud to say that this October will be my 1st year completely sober. It’s been a complete game changer and I finally feel like I’m living life the way that it was intended. I used to be the girl who was always down for one more tequila shot and now I’m the person who is down for one more mile. (At least…)
With all that said, I couldn’t be more excited for this adventure with you all. I feel so lucky to be a part of a truly exceptional team/community and can’t wait to meet the rest of you!
