The iSwim4 Foundation Team

Our Board of Directors

  • Jeffrey Rake, Founder and Board Member

“Water seems to be my life's common thread...” So, it is only appropriate that water has become a canvas for gratitude, achievement and paying it forward.

Upon discovering a new life in sobriety, Jeff was filled with a sense of potential. He wanted to make the most of every aspect of his life. He wanted to achieve something, but he wanted that achievement to serve a greater purpose than glory or self-fulfillment. He wanted to help others to discover and experience the rewarding life that he was now able to enjoy.

So, he decided that his celebration of life would be to swim farther than ever before. And to help others, he would raise funds for a worthy Recovery charity. Jeff’s mission became to demonstrate what’s possible AND to give back…

This was the beginning of the iSwim4 Foundation. Jeff is a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard (with CPR/AED) and an ASCA certified Swim Coach.

  • Rob Bedford, Board Member

Rob’s joy of being in and around the water seems to rub off on everyone around him…

A collegiate swimmer and an Olympic Trials Qualifier in his younger days, Rob has had a lifelong love affair with swimming. And swimming fast… which he continues to do. One could argue that Rob’s emergence as one of the fastest old guys in the water had nothing to do with the sobriety he has enjoyed for most of his adult life, but something about meeting other sober swimmers helped him find a deeper connection… And now, a deeper commitment to the mission of iSwim4.

In addition to demonstrating what’s possible in a life of sobriety - and inspired by his Uncle Paul - Rob is making an impact in society through his efforts to enhance the quality of life for adults living with intellectual disabilities.

  • Bill Kuttruff, Board Member

In addition to his extensive swimming background, Bill is a man of action. Though we all have a common sense of purpose, Bill is the force that moves us forward.

An ex-high school and collegiate swimmer, Bill went back to basics and dove headfirst into multisport exercise as a means to augment his recovery (moving meditation). He ran the Philadelphia Marathon in 2021, continues to do open water swims and is training for a Century Ride in 2023.

Outside of work and training, Bill is an Advisor and Fundraising Ambassador for the Saint Joseph's University Center for Addiction and Recovery Education (CARE) in Philadelphia. Bill is a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard (with CPR/AED) and an ASCA certified Swim Coach.
