iSwim4 - A Sober Swimming Community

La Jolla Cove 10 Mile Relay—September 28, 2025

On September 28 (During National Recovery Month), iSwim4 will field a team of open water swimmers in recovery and participate in the La Jolla Cove 10 Mile Relay Swim. Founder, Jeffrey Rake has pulled together a great team for this year’s swim.

Swimmers who will represent iSwim4 on the relay are:

Golda Marcus (Bay Area swimmer and former Olympian); Rob Bedford (iSwim4 Board Member and US Olympic Trials qualifier from Pennsylvania); Ryan Eick (SoCal swimmer); David Stewart; Tim Wilson (2024 Catalina Channel Relay member) and Eric Fletcher (2023 Catalina Channel Relay member).

iSwim4 believes that physical well-being is a cornerstone of mental well-being, and furthermore, that setting and pursuing goals provides a framework for lasting sobriety. We instill that principle through the transformative power of swimming.

By “Demonstrating What’s Possible” and by providing access to aquatic facilities, coaching, gear and community, iSwim4 works to:

- inspire those struggling to connect.
- involve the recovering by facilitating the connection.
- collectively invest in important issues in our communities and reconnect with the world.

We need your help! Recovery transforms the lives of individuals – and the ripple effect of those recovered has an even greater impact on society at large. iSwim4 is an IRS Code Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Public Charity formed in 2023.

Recovery - Demonstrating What’s Possible in Sobriety via a Community of Encouragement.

No matter how far down an individual may spiral, there is always hope. Without help, that hope is greatly diminished.

The iSwim4 Foundation helps people impacted substance use disorder by demonstrating what’s possible in a life of sobriety using swimming as a program of fitness, as a framework for goal setting and as a community of mutual encouragement.

This disease is powerful, but Recovery is equally powerful.

Fitness, achievement and fellowship represent methods of strengthening a program of recovery. A strong program minimizes the probability of slipping back into a life of chaos, destruction and hopelessness.

And for many, Recovery is just the beginning. iSwim4 highlights the impact made in society at large by those who have built a new life in sobriety.

When our lives are transformed, we can affect the transformation of our communities and societies for better.
